Program at a Glance
In the Welding program, students get the knowledge and skill level used in welding manufacturing technologies today. Students receive instruction in personal and shop safety, tool usage, layout and design, cutting metal on a shear, and oxy-acetylene cutting/welding while making special projects. Each student will complete welding on ferrous and non-ferrous materials (Carbon Steel, Aluminum, and Stainless Steel). What You Will Learn
Students are instructed in grinding, hand tools, measuring tools, power saws, Shielded Metal Arc Welding Plate & Pipe (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding Plate & Pipe (GMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding Plate & Pipe (GTAW), Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), Oxy-Fuel Cutting (OFC), Plasma Arc Cutting (PAC),Carbon Arc Cutting (CAC-A), print reading and design, welding symbols, Ironworkers, Shear CNC PAC, Milling/Lathe operations, 75-ton punch and the related theory that will cover these metal working processes.Career Pathways
Students prepare and practice for national AWS welding certification tests. Students are prepared for employment in the field or may continue their education in college or a post-secondary program. Students may pursue enrollment in union organizations.Sample Careers
