Weight Lifting Club
The program is open to all students in grades 9-12. Programs are designed for students looking to improve themselves in general fitness or sports-specific areas. The weight room is generally open five days a week for 1-2 hours a day after school and is available to the athletic teams through the summer months. The program is designed to bring awareness, knowledge and skill in the areas of weightlifting, cardiovascular health, flexibility training, and general overall good health. The program also teaches self-discipline, camaraderie, self-confidence, and mental wellness through physical activity. While it is imperative that the student-athletes of SCTS commit themselves to these ideals and dedicate their time to improving their physical fitness, we encourage all other students to also utilize this facility to achieve the same goals.
The weight room is supervised by one of our staff members who are committed to the ideals listed above and who possess a knowledge of the proper use of the equipment and training protocols.
Students who have committed to these important practices and who work hard enough can be rewarded by becoming a member of the 1200 lb club. To achieve this students must be able to lift at least 1200 pounds in 4 exercises: Bench Press / Squat / Dead-Lift / Hang-Clean. A list of students who have achieved this impressive feat is listed below.
