The Board of Education of the Sussex County Technical School District is searching for its next Chief School Administrator. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced educational leader with knowledge of CTE programming to lead one of New Jersey's most distinctive county vocational-technical school districts.
Sussex Tech boasts a proud history, a dedicated community, and tremendous potential. Since its founding in 1969, our school has provided traditional vocational-technical education for students in grades 9-12 from every municipality in the County. We continue to prepare Sussex youth for lifelong success by offering 21st-century career training in diverse fields such as architecture, allied health, and robotics. More than half of our students take advantage of dual enrollment opportunities, and our active PTA greatly enhances the student experience. Sussex Tech enjoys a remarkable legacy of community pride, multi-generational family connections, and devoted alumni, many of whom have returned to SCTS to serve as teachers and staff.

Our District serves approximately 700 students with a budget of just over $15m funded by our County Commissioners, State, and Federal aid, and grants. We employ a staff of 85 certificated and 15 non-certificated professionals. Our admin team consists of a CSA, a full-time, experienced Business Administrator, two Vice-Principals, a Director of Curriculum & Instruction, an Athletic Director, and a Director of Buildings & Grounds. Our 90-acre campus is located in Sparta, and comprises. Our campus houses the Sussex Tech Adult Career Center, which is run on a non-subsidized basis as a public service.

The next Chief School Administrator of Sussex Tech will be a passionate advocate for Career and Technical Education, an innovative thinker with the ability to transform vision into action. We are looking for an educational leader who is highly visible, accessible, and who will actively engage with students, faculty, families, and important community stakeholders; a team-oriented educational leader who can unite a team of administrators while being inclusionary, fair, and accountable. We desire candidates who are financially savvy and resourceful, and we require a collaborative leader who is a transparent communicator and dedicated partner with the Board of Education.

Qualifications:
  • New Jersey School Administrator Certificate or Certificate of Eligibility required.
  • Minimum of five years of successful school district administrative experience required; Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent experience preferred.
  • Direct experience with CTE programming strongly preferred.

The Board expects to offer a salary in the range of $200K to $225K and a competitive benefits package including sick leave, vacation days, personal days, health insurance, vision coverage, dental insurance, and professional membership dues, to be determined. It is anticipated that the total compensation package will be regionally competitive and will be based on successful experience and education, and shall be subject to approval by the Sussex County Technical School District Board of Education.
