Program at a Glance

The Transportation Technology program enables students to explore the transportation repair industry. Students will learn about automotive and diesel technologies. Students study both Automotive (Master Automobile Service Technology) and Diesel (Master Truck Service) ASE curricula.
 
The Transportation Technology program prepares students to work on a variety of gasoline and diesel-powered equipment, heavy-duty trucks, automobiles, and light trucks. Transportation Technology provides extensive hands-on training opportunities that enable students to put theory into practice. Students earn ASE credentials in addition to others such as Snap-On meter certification, S/P2 credentials and more. Students are prepared to enter either industry or a combination of both upon graduation.
 
Eligible students earn college credits and/or industry valued credential(s): Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications and college credit.
 

What You Will Learn

Students will learn to diagnose, service, and repair both domestic and foreign vehicles, using the latest computerized diagnostic tools. In the automotive component of this course, emphasis is placed on brakes, steering, suspension, electrical systems, electronics, and drivability/engine performance. In the diesel component, emphasis is placed on air brakes, heating and air conditioning, transmissions, engines, and axles/drive trains.
 

Career Pathways

Students may be employed with government, independent repair facilities and dealerships for all aspects of the industry. Students may also continue their education in a college or postsecondary program.
