Are you a student who wants to get a head start on life after high school? Do you want to jump right into the workforce after graduation, or do you want an advantage over your fellow students when you start college? Sussex Tech offers opportunities that simply are not available in a traditional high school setting. You will graduate with both a high school diploma and highly sought-after skills.
This is an exciting time to be a student at Sussex County Technical School. You can choose from six exciting courses of study in our Pathways to Success career preparation program – Business, Technology, Visual Communications, Construction, Transportation and Service Industries.
There is a strong and growing demand today for skilled trade workers, and if you want to go to work directly after high school, Sussex Tech has proven programs that will prepare you to enter the workforce with marketable skills that give you a leg up on the competition. Our technical programs continually evolve to meet industry standards – including providing state-of-the-art equipment in each shop and classes taught by outstanding teachers with years of experience in their fields. Our students are heavily recruited by local employers and can choose from an array of quality job opportunities. There are hundreds of Sussex Tech graduates who own businesses in Sussex County today.
Sussex Tech is also the pathway to success for ambitious, college-bound students who want rigorous academics linked with real-world career training. You may not think that a technical school will prepare you for college, but in fact, the opposite is true. The Sussex Tech educational experience is designed to bring college to you as part of your high school program. Because of our partnerships with many colleges and universities, you can earn college credits by graduating from Sussex Tech with good grades. Some graduates enter college as sophomores based on credits earned at Sussex Tech – imagine the time and money you can save!
Around 70 percent of Sussex County Technical School students continue their education upon graduation. Many students attend college here in New Jersey and a number of our students have gone on to premiere colleges and universities around the nation, including Virginia Tech, West Point, Boston College, Lehigh University, Georgia Tech, and Ohio State.
