Sussex County Technical School strongly advises parents to enroll in the optional accidental damage insurance plan for the devices issued by the school. The insurance plan covers the cost of repairs or replacements in case of any damage to the devices. Without the insurance, parents may have to pay a significant amount of money for fixing or replacing the devices, which can be much higher than the insurance fee. The following are some examples of the typical costs associated with damage:
- iPads: The cost of repairing or replacing any part of these devices is $299.
- Chromebooks: The cost of repairing a broken screen is $100. The cost of repairing or replacing any other part of these devices is $299.
The insurance for the 23-24 school year is $35 per device. This will cover any accidental damage done to the device itself, accessories (such as apple pencils and power adapters) are not included.
